Our valued client, a rapidly growing national construction and engineering firm is a dynamic and forward-thinking company committed to driving growth and promoting sustainability through innovative engineering, construction, and energy solutions. The firm is seeking a Director, Accounts Payable to join their team on a full-time basis. This is a new position, an addition to staff, resulting from the company's growth.

What you will do:

As the Accounts Payable Director, you will be responsible for overseeing the entire accounts payable function and leading a team to ensure efficient and timely completion of tasks. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to the growth of our company and your professional development.

• Lead and manage a team of 10 accounts payable clerks responsible for processing vendor invoices, credit card transactions, and employee expense reports.
• Oversee the credit application process and vendor creation to maintain effective vendor relationships.
• Ensure the timely processing and distribution of accounts payable checks on a weekly basis.
• Ensure compliance with IRS regulations by managing the receipt of W-9 forms from vendors and submitting the 1099-MISC tax reporting forms annually to vendors and the IRS.
• Recruit and hire employees for the accounts payable group and provide training and evaluation to enhance their performance and professional growth.
• Facilitate timely reconciliation of vendor statements to ensure timely payment of invoices and maximize discounts.
• Manage internal and external inquiries related to invoice payment status and vendor account issues.
• Complete sales tax returns.
• Provide accounts payable support to project managers and operations staff when necessary.
• Safeguard the organization's value by maintaining the confidentiality of information.

What you will need:

• 8 years of experience in accounts payable, including 2 years of accounts payable management experience.
• Experience with large ERP AP systems and 1099 filings.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Strong decision-making and leadership skills.
• Ability to meet deadlines and deliver results.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to handle multiple ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent multitasking skills, with a willingness to take on additional responsibilities when needed.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

• Experience in the construction industry.
• Proficiency in JD Edwards software.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting.

Position can be based in Metairie, LA or Baton Rouge, LA and individual will work in office 3 days per week (across both locations).

$115-125K base salary 25% annual bonus target
