Patient Accounts Representative organizes inpatient and outpatient claims for electronic or hard copy mail and forwards to appropriate third party payers. Reviews claims to make sure that payer specific billing requirements are met, follows-up on billing, determines and applies appropriate adjustments, answers inquiries, and updates accounts as necessary. Being a Patient Accounts Representative requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Patient Accounts Representative works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. Job Description
- Greets all patients and guests in initiating check in process.
- Obtains and verified accurate patient identification & demographic data to confirm or update the patient’s record while maintaining confidentiality for information.
- Is responsible for completing eligibility of insurances presented and possibly offering some financial counselling as well as conducting point of service collections.
- Is responsible for completing registration for all admission processes while providing customer service in person and via phone.
Qualifications
- HS diploma or GED
- Excellent customer and clerical experience needed.
- Candidate must be able to multi-task while being detail oriented and have computer skills with at least 40 wpm.
- Must be team orientated but also able to work independently.
- Job can require long periods of standing and walking as well as repetitive standing and sitting.
- Medical and insurance experience
- Medical terminology
- Fluently bi-lingual
