Job Summary:
The Patient Account Representative is responsible for all Medicare, Medicaid, and all third-party claims, which include filling out insurance forms and handling correspondence as it may arise. These individual files third party inpatient and outpatient claims on the Cerner Billing System and works closely with the payments received from Medicare, Medicaid, Worker’s Compensation and Commercial Insurance Companies. Must be familiar with the schedule of the hospital charges, CPT Coding, HCPCS Coding, ICD9 Codes and numerous regulations of Medicare, Medicaid, Worker’s Compensation, and PPO’s. Assist other office personnel when necessary. Ability to plan and coordinate activities. Ability to deal effectively with the public and a representative of the hospital. Ability to cooperate and work well with other members of the office staff, and to use time efficiently and effectively. Admits patients to the hospital, dismisses patients, prepares patient’s bills for discharge, and discusses financial arrangements for patient’s account.
