Patient Registrar collects information from incoming patients regarding services needed, insurance available, or financial status. May assist in completion of admissions or insurance forms. Being a Patient Registrar contacts insurance providers to verify coverage and obtain authorization for service. Requires a high school diploma. Additionally, Patient Registrar typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Patient Registrar may require 0-1 year of general work experience. Overview This is a float position for the Center for Health locations. Hours will vary and travel will be common. Primary work location is Route 91 however candidate must be willing and able to drive to other offsite OSF locations in the nearby area if needed.
Expected pay for this position is $18.43 - $21.69 / hour. Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity.
POSITION SUMMARY : The Patient Access Associate ensures each registered patient has a complete and accurate OSF medical record, which includes patient demographics, insurance coverage, responsible guarantor and registration precision in a manner which they understand what services they are receiving, their financial responsibilities for the services provided, and expectations of them while at the facility.
Excellent patient service skills are expected to create an exceptional first impression of OSF’s services to the patients, families, and other external patients over the phone or in person.
Qualifications REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS : Education : High school diploma or GED Experience : One year in an office clerical setting or customer service environment.
Other skills / knowledge : Working knowledge of standard Microsoft Office applications and website navigation. Problem solving, conflict management, time management, good oral and written communication skills.
Required to complete all role specific revenue cycle training and certification within 12 months. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS : Experience : Three years in an office clerical setting or customer service environment.
Direct experience in a revenue cycle or medical setting. Other skills / knowledge : Advanced knowledge of CPT4, ICD9 / 10, HCPCS, and modifiers.
