    Front Desk Registrar/Patient Access Rep - Saluda Family Medicine - Full-Time Day Shift

    St. Luke’s Hospital has a new opportunity for an experienced Front Desk Registrar/Patient Access Rep at St. Luke's Saluda Family Medicine! Our hospital is one of the very few critical access hospitals in the country that earned 5 stars in patient satisfaction from CMS in 2020 and we need YOU to help us get to the next level! In this role, you will be part of a progressive team dedicated to advancing the goals of the hospital, meeting the needs of our rural community, and providing outstanding care to our patients. At St. Luke’s, we ALL make a difference!

    Essential functions:
    • Checks in and out all patients in EMR. Schedules any return visits and prints both visit summaries. Also, schedules, new, established, and referrals by phone. Dispenses visit summary and orders to patients at check out. Mail New Patient Paperwork, if needed.
    • Schedules diagnostic testing and completes fax or scan appropriate paperwork. Also, fax or scan paperwork for scheduling PT/OT or any other request physicians or PAs might need. Obtain pre-certification and benefits information for diagnostic testing. Notify the patient of pre-cert, and cost and schedule an appointment accordingly.
    • Self-pay patients are given an option for a discount on that day’s visit. Receipts are written for self-pay clients giving appropriate paperwork and discount information given.
    •  Assist and collect any patient financial responsibility collecting payments, co-pays, and outstanding balances when necessary.
    • Make corrections and updates to patient demographic and insurance when needed.
    • Knowledgeable of contracted insurance plans and procedures.
    • Charts, electronic and paper, are updated and maintained as required by the practice. Filling History and Physical, progress notes, procedure orders, diagnostic x-rays, and prescriptions as well as PT/OT, and RAD orders.
    • Telephone is answered as calls come in and directed to the appropriate extensions.
    • Telephone answering machine is checked on arrival in AM and at intervals throughout the day. Messages are handled appropriately. The answering machine is kept updated.
    • Participates in staff meetings, in-services, and continuing education to maintain professional acumen.
    • Check providers’ folders daily for signed documents needing to be faxed/scanned.
    • Print New Patient Paperwork from emails.
    • May have to fill in at other offices when needed. 

    Required knowledge and skills:
    • High school graduate or equivalent. A healthcare background is preferred.
    • Excellent communication and good organizational skills.
    • Must have the ability to handle difficult patients and situations professionally.
    • Must be flexible in handling new and changing policies and procedures.
    • Must read, speak and write English well and have basic computer (keyboard) knowledge.
    • Healthcare CRP is helpful
    • CPR is required if the employee is a CNA and desires to retain that certification. The CNA desiring to maintain certification must also be responsible to schedule a CNA work day at the hospital annually and complete the annual CNA competencies for a hospital-employed manager to sign off on the state CNA re-certification form.
    • Working knowledge of the following equipment: Copier, fax computer keyboard and mouse, calculator, credit card machines, printer/scanner, and multi-line phone.
