Patient Scheduler

Full Time; FTE 1.0

Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:00pm

The patient scheduler will schedule tests and procedures. Tests will be coordinated according to preparation, patient convenience, doctor request and department guidelines. The scheduler will also act as liaison between the provider offices and hospital departments.

COVID-19 and Flu Vaccination Requirement: It is required to be vaccinated for COVID-19 and Influenza. Exemption requests based on medical or religious reasons may be submitted, but must be approved for active employment.

• Schedules tests in electronic health record (EHR) system while ensuring that all resources are coordinated (room, nurse, provider) as necessary in an accurate and timely manner.
• In event of multiple tests required assure that they are performed in the proper order.
• Provide patient and/or provider with information on proper preparation for exam as well as assignment of date and time of appointment.
• Enter accurate demographic information into EHR when necessary.
• Collaboration of resources when scheduling urgent tests.
• Works with provider office staff to assures diagnosis meets medical necessity for testing.
• Distributes orders to appropriate personnel.
• Builds and maintains good rapport with providers’ offices

Education: High School Diploma or GED

Experience: Prior Customer Service experience

Knowledge/Abilities:

• Ability to operate a multiline phone.
• Ability to perform a variety of tasks, often changing assignments on short notice.
• Ability to quickly learn a variety of software/hardware products
• Communication skills, verbal and listening.
• Ability to maintain a professional demeanor in stressful situations.
• Ability to operate equipment typically found in a business office environment.
• Ability to perform data entry with speed and accuracy
