DEFINITION:
The Patient Account Representative (PAR) is primary responsible for ensuring accurate and timely billing of patient accounts in accordance with policies and procedures, in compliance with federal, state, insurance carriers, health plans and other third party payer requirements. Also reviews claims to make sure that payer specific billing requirements are met, follows-up on outstanding claims, billing and collection activities insuring maximum collection is achieved in accordance with the established policies and procedures of the DME billing department, determines and applies appropriate adjustments, answers inquiries, and updates accounts as necessary.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Basic computer literacy including keyboard and mouse. Microsoft office preferred.
Must have good organizational skills, reading, writing and proven communication skills.
Must have 2 years of general office experience.
Prefer 1 year of hospital/medical office billing and collections or can demonstrate an understanding of hospital billing and collections.
