Patient Representative acts as a liaison between patients, families, and the healthcare organization to support patient-centric care delivery. Communicates patients' questions, concerns, and issues to appropriate staff members, follows up, and facilitates solutions as needed. Being a Patient Representative explains policies, procedures, rights, and applicable regulations to patients and provides informational resources about available services. Working with multi-disciplinary teams may make recommendations for improvements to the patient experience. Additionally, Patient Representative may participate in discharge processes or administer patient satisfaction surveys. Follows all applicable regulations regarding patient information privacy policies. Requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor. Our Patient Representatives are the first point of contact for our patients and set the tone for our patient’s experience throughout their entire encounter experience in our practice.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Serves as a direct contact/referral point for patients, greets patients in person and via telephone, answers multi-line telephone system in a professional manner, performs clerical duties pertaining to the design and follow up in an efficient patient/provider appointment schedule, accurately registers patients using the Practice’s computer systems, collects deductibles, copayments, coinsurance and self-pay balances at the time to services, and ensures all documents and forms are presented, explained and signed at time of registration.
Essential Functions:
Obtain all necessary information to perform benefits verifications, obtain appropriate signed consent forms, collects co-pay or amount required at time of service, works to provide a friendly, calm and professional environment for a sick patient, their family and friends.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Must have experience in meeting people and working with them under adverse conditions. General computer skills. Must have excellent customer service and organizational skills. Must be capable of learning quickly and accepting change.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School diploma, typing speed of 30 wpm, high attention to detail, excellent customer service skills and strong communication skills.
Preferred qualifications: Previous experience in a general office capacity.
