Patient Representative acts as a liaison between patients, families, and the healthcare organization to support patient-centric care delivery. Communicates patients' questions, concerns, and issues to appropriate staff members, follows up, and facilitates solutions as needed. Being a Patient Representative explains policies, procedures, rights, and applicable regulations to patients and provides informational resources about available services. Working with multi-disciplinary teams may make recommendations for improvements to the patient experience. Additionally, Patient Representative may participate in discharge processes or administer patient satisfaction surveys. Follows all applicable regulations regarding patient information privacy policies. Requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Patient Representative works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job. The successful candidate :
Hours : Part time, Thursdays only (12hrs per week)
Performs all tasks related to the EHR admission / discharge process of outpatient and inpatient visits. Performs accurate patient demographic and insurance information be collected and verified upon each registration.
Additional duties include : generating registration visits for multiple patient types including surgical, physician office visits, patient transfers, managing both the registration hotline on a 24 / 7 basis and the hospitalist hotline, accepting patient payments and issuing receipts, providing patient information, completing required forms and scanning documents daily.
Requirements :
High school diploma or equivalent.
Hospital Registration and / or Insurance experience preferred.
Customer service experience.
Minimum of 1 year experience in a healthcare setting.
Organized and detail oriented with good analytical skills. The ability to consistently exercise good judgment and follow direction is necessary.
General knowledge of typing / keyboard skills, PC and Microsoft software, Outlook, Word, and Excel
General knowledge of various office equipment(s) i.e. copier, fax machine, scanner, printer etc.
Professional telephone etiquette and solid communication (verbal and written) skills are essential.
