Patient Safety Manager manages a staff responsible for developing and implementing patient safety programs. Supervises the investigation of errors and then plans for resolution of all safety related incidents, including those involving employees, visitors, patients, and situations posing a threat to the hospital's buildings and equipment. Being a Patient Safety Manager maintains records of patient-related errors and evaluates this information in order to identify the cause of the error. Collects, reviews, and analyzes information from the facility's safety programs to identify corrective action and programs as necessary. Additionally, Patient Safety Manager recommends changes, policies, or programs that could prevent future errors. Designs and presents training programs meant to increase awareness of patient safety initiatives. Ensures compliance with state and federal regulatory requirements. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Patient Safety Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Extensive knowledge of department processes. To be a Patient Safety Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 to 3 years supervisory experience may be required. Understands the lagging and leading safety indicators and promotes a philosophy that achieves established goals. Identification of job site/area specific safety requirements, safety equipment, material procurement, training requirements and tracking of training.

    Responsibilities As a Safety Manager, your key responsibility will be to manage and enforce Site Safety Program for the assigned project(s) by identifying, eliminating and controlling hazardous conditions that may lead to injury and/or property damage. By using and enforcing job specific safety standards, best management practices, and Site Specific safety program, the Safety Manager shall ensure the safety of all persons and property on the job site resulting in an accident/incident free project.

    Site Details

    • Enforce safe work practices and safe working conditions in accordance with all State, Federal, Local regulations (including OSHA), as well as Site Specific policies and owner/contractual requirements.
    • Conduct daily and/or weekly (as appropriate or specified by job) job site inspections.
    • Record observations from site inspections and complete required reports.
    • Investigate, corroborate, document, all accidents, incidents, and near misses on the jobsite.
    • Recommend and implement corrective action based on policies, guidelines, and laws.
    • Conduct weekly "Toolbox Safety Meeting' and document content and attendance.
    • Conduct Safety Orientation for new employees.
    • Advise project staff on site specific safety issues/guideline
    • Evaluate the need for safety training and make recommendations

    Minimum Requirements

    • Thorough knowledge of Construction Industry methods and OSHA standards.
    • OSHA 30 Construction Industry Certification, OSHA 500 is a plus.
    • 5-10 years safety experience in construction industry.
    REQUIRED • Basic working knowledge of MS Office and Windows.
