Patient Safety Manager manages a staff responsible for developing and implementing patient safety programs. Supervises the investigation of errors and then plans for resolution of all safety related incidents, including those involving employees, visitors, patients, and situations posing a threat to the hospital's buildings and equipment. Being a Patient Safety Manager maintains records of patient-related errors and evaluates this information in order to identify the cause of the error. Collects, reviews, and analyzes information from the facility's safety programs to identify corrective action and programs as necessary. Additionally, Patient Safety Manager recommends changes, policies, or programs that could prevent future errors. Designs and presents training programs meant to increase awareness of patient safety initiatives. Ensures compliance with state and federal regulatory requirements. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Patient Safety Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Extensive knowledge of department processes. To be a Patient Safety Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 to 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Position Summary:

    Manages the day-to-day operations of the Clinical Excellence Team and works across inpatient and ambulatory departments, health disciplines, and other facilities to monitor and promote quality and patient safety, improving care and reducing risks for patients, families, and staff. Functions as the subject matter expert on all clinical quality programs and issues.

    Salary Range:
    Annual Rate Minimum $111,200.00 Midpoint $163,100.00 Maximum $215,000.00

    Required Qualifications:
    Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
    Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
    Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
    Exceptional level of professionalism, discretion and the ability to work on highly sensitive and confidential projects
    Knowledge of current trends and best practices in healthcare quality improvement and patient safety
    Successful track record of effective, team-oriented working relationships with physicians, nurses and other health professionals
    Minimum 5 years of supervisory/management experience
    Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
    7 years of experience in healthcare with demonstrated ability in design, implementation and sustainment of performance improvement activities in a health care setting including skillful application of continuous quality improvement and patient safety sciences
    5 years of progressive leadership experience in quality improvement, performance improvement, operational excellence, nursing or patient safety in an academic medical center or large, integrated, tertiary health care setting providing expert level understanding of the art and the science of quality improvement and patient safety
    Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously with demonstrated ability to complete projects successfully on time and within budget
    Minimum 7 years’ experience working as a RN, other licensed clinical practitioner or similar experience in a related field
    Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
    Bachelor’s Degree in healthcare administration, public health, or other relevant field

    Preferred Qualifications:
    Experience in Lean-Sigma as an improvement methodology
    Master’s degree in Nursing, Public Health, Pharmacy, Business, Administration or related field
    Experience managing participation in voluntary registries
    Current Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality, CPHQ and/or Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS)
