Patient Safety Manager manages a staff responsible for developing and implementing patient safety programs. Supervises the investigation of errors and then plans for resolution of all safety related incidents, including those involving employees, visitors, patients, and situations posing a threat to the hospital's buildings and equipment. Being a Patient Safety Manager maintains records of patient-related errors and evaluates this information in order to identify the cause of the error. Collects, reviews, and analyzes information from the facility's safety programs to identify corrective action and programs as necessary. Additionally, Patient Safety Manager recommends changes, policies, or programs that could prevent future errors. Designs and presents training programs meant to increase awareness of patient safety initiatives. Ensures compliance with state and federal regulatory requirements. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Patient Safety Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Extensive knowledge of department processes. To be a Patient Safety Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 to 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Job Description:

    As the Safety Manager at H.R. Ewell, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive safety programs to promote a culture of safety excellence within the organization. You will work closely with drivers, dispatchers, mechanics, and other team members to identify and mitigate potential safety hazards and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations.

    Responsibilities:

    • Conduct regular safety training sessions for drivers and other employees, covering topics such as defensive driving, accident prevention, and hazardous materials handling.
    • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root causes and develop corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
    • Maintain accurate records of safety-related incidents, training activities, and compliance documentation.
    • Collaborate with management, drivers, and other staff to develop and implement strategies for improving safety performance and reducing accidents and injuries.
    • Stay up-to-date on changes to regulations and industry standards related to transportation safety.
    • Act as a resource for drivers and other employees on safety-related issues, providing guidance and support as needed.
    • Review dashcam events from drivers as identified by PeopleNet.
    • Provides technical support on operational systems with the safety department as well as in emergency situations.

    Qualifications:

    • Previous experience in a safety-related role, preferably in the transportation or logistics industry.
    • In-depth knowledge of DOT regulations, FMCSA guidelines, and other applicable safety standards.
    • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify trends, analyze data, and develop actionable insights.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate safety policies and procedures to diverse audiences.
    • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and other relevant software tools.
    • In-depth knowledge of PeopleNet or other E-Log platforms is required.
    • CDL-A driver’s license with tanker endorsement preferred.
    • Individual must possess demonstrated leadership, coaching and development skills

    Job Type: Full-time

    Pay: $45,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
