Responsibilities:
- Lead all employees and contractors assigned to work on the construction of renewable energy facilities in the safe construction of renewable energy projects.
- Responsible for the Safety and Environmental compliance of Acciona’s personnel and subcontractors on site during construction in accordance with federal, state and local laws, and Acciona policies, practices and procedures. Ensure all personnel and subcontractors meet technical and safety training requirements. Conduct and review safety analyses and reviews of hazards and energy sources.
- Ensure BUILD SAFE implementation on construction projects.
- Assist in the preparation of Site Specific Safety Plans for renewable energy projects in advance of project bid process.
- Conducts new employee project orientation and safety/environmental training with the company and subcontractor employees.
- Ensure robust weekly safety meetings occur with representation from craft and management for each company.
- Attends subcontractor preconstruction meetings, review task specific Job Hazard Analyses and assist with planning for safety issues
- Implement, execute, ensure compliance with the corporate Health, Safety and Environmental policies and procedures. Include physical and electronic recor keeping as required according to the Site Specifc Safety Plan, Acciona policies and governmental requirements.
- Lead safety/environmental incident investigation process, including root cause analysis and identification and completion of all corrective action plans. Interface with regulatory bodies (OSHA, EPA, State/Local Regulators).
- Inspect construction site to ensure compliance and promote prevention on required intervals and as needed.
- Manage incident data and metrics to identify trends and recommend corrective action to address these areas.
- Provide risk assessment of construction site to evaluate safety hazards and offer remedial action. Provide feedback to Engineering for every project to improve Safety in Design.
- Evaluate contractor operational practices/equipment for safety compliance. Ensure monthly Build Safe Audit of Contractor(s) is completed and feedback provided.
- Ensure emergency drills are conducted no less than annually or twice during a construction project whichever is greater.
- Establish and maintain a project crisis management plan.
- Conducts accident investigations and assists with OSHA and environmental inspections.
- Ensure that required regulatory permits are acquired, that reports are submitted to regulatory agencies, and any site permit conditions (e.g. sampling, record-keeping) are met.
- Act as Subject Matter Expert in Enablon for the duration of the project ensuring timely reporting within the system.
- Perform all duties in accordance with Environmental, Health and Safety Guidelines.

Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field or equivalent experience.
- 3-5 years of progressive experience as an Environmental, Health and Safety Specialist
- Strong overall knowledge of applicable environmental statutes and safety regulations.
- Ability to continuously monitor construction performance and safety.
- Demonstrate continuous commitment to safe operations. Be an active role model and constant resource to the organization.
- Demonstrate good written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to generate reports, presentations and other documentation using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Ability to relocate to the project sites during construction for a period of several months.
- Ability to think and analyze situations in a fast paced environment.
- Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor environments.
- Ability to climb vertical ladders and work at heights of 300 feet.
- Have a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
- Ability to travel to domestic and international locations for extended periods of time.
- High Voltage safety experience required
