Patient Safety Manager manages a staff responsible for developing and implementing patient safety programs. Supervises the investigation of errors and then plans for resolution of all safety related incidents, including those involving employees, visitors, patients, and situations posing a threat to the hospital's buildings and equipment. Being a Patient Safety Manager maintains records of patient-related errors and evaluates this information in order to identify the cause of the error. Collects, reviews, and analyzes information from the facility's safety programs to identify corrective action and programs as necessary. Additionally, Patient Safety Manager recommends changes, policies, or programs that could prevent future errors. Designs and presents training programs meant to increase awareness of patient safety initiatives. Ensures compliance with state and federal regulatory requirements. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Patient Safety Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. The role you’ll contribute: The Risk Management & Patient Safety Manager, is responsible for oversight of the internal risk reporting systems, including the review of reported quality related events and management of data validation. The Risk Management & Patient Safety Manager provides support to practice operations leadership and notifies Executive Leadership of all potential compensatory and adverse events and manages the initial investigative process to meet regulatory obligations. Additional responsibilities include the Patient Grievance process and Internal Claim Management process. The Risk Management & Patient Safety Manager is responsible for provider affiliated medical malpractice coverage and required educational requirements by the AdventHealth Trust. The Risk Management & Patient Safety Manager maintains the assigned Risk Management Policies and Procedures and is a key stakeholder of the Policies and Procedure Committee. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

Manages day to day office operations of the risk management department to ensure key performance indicators are being met
Provides oversight and establishes protocols to ensure all risk management files, including original and electronic documents, are maintained, properly stored, and retained according to AdventHealth policy and legal requirements
Works collaboratively with Physicians, appropriate Leadership and Practice Management in the review and resolution of Patient Grievances
Participates in the settlement of internal claims and fairly negotiates resolution within established settlement authority
Participates directly in the development of educational efforts related to risk management and patient safety across the organization
Manages process related to AH general liability insurance and medical malpractice requests and needs
The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:
Minimum qualifications:
Healthcare supervisory experience
Bachelor’s Degree with a major in Health Services Administration or Clinical Specialty
Previous experience in Risk Management
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
Master’s degree in Health Services Administration or Clinical Specialty
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION PREFERRED:
Certified Professional in HealthCare Risk Management (CPHRM)
Successful completion of Certified Risk Management Course
