Patient Safety Specialist assists in the development and implementation of patient safety programs. Gathers data detailing patient-related errors and conducts analysis for management detailing the cause of the error. Being a Patient Safety Specialist recommends changes, policies, or programs that could prevent future errors. Gives presentations and training programs meant to increase awareness of patient safety initiatives. Additionally, Patient Safety Specialist tests patient-safety knowledge of employees and recommends changes to training programs. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Patient Safety Specialist contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project.   • PC is seeking a Safety Specialist for several water and wastewater projects in the Northeast Florida region. This position is responsible for implementing and living PC’s “Safety Starts With Me Culture”. This position is a key member of our safety team, working with Superintendents and Project Managers to ensure that PC maintains and improves our EMR year after year through a combination of compliance, enforcement and collaboration.

The position requires 5 years of experience, a strong ability to communicate (English and Spanish-speaking is preferred but not required), computer proficiency, and a willingness to travel and deliver first aid as necessary.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Ensure PC’s safety policies are in keeping with OSHA, other safety regulations and company initiatives.
    • Assist project teams in the preparation of site-specific safety programs.
    • Communicate all Company safety initiatives to ensure the highest level of awareness.
    • Conduct New Employee Safety Orientation.
    • Assist staff in oversight of site safety.
    • Help resolve disputes in safety matters.
    • Help develop an overall culture of safety with a focus on people.
    • Conduct safety performance meetings with administrative staff.
    • Evaluate the status of field and supervisory employees’ completion of required training. Conduct training or arrange outside training resources on policies, procedures, and safe work practices
