Gives presentations and training programs meant to increase awareness of patient safety initiatives. Additionally, Patient Safety Specialist tests patient-safety knowledge of employees and recommends changes to training programs. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Patient Safety Specialist contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project. You will do this by facilitating patient safety and quality improvement initiatives and coordinating the implementation of practices designed to reduce error and improve patient outcomes. This will involve fostering a non-punitive culture of continuous learning and improvement by reviewing safety events, identifying trends in near-miss and actual events, and using Lean methodologies to identify relevant trends. You will: * Serve as an educational resource for all departments on issues of patient safety * Encourage reporting of actual and near miss events * Conduct root cause analyses * Assure that corrective actions are implemented and monitored in a timely manner * Facilitate Failure Mode Effects Analysis Teams * Support the organization's good-catch recognition program Salary Range: $78,800 - $175,000
    Qualifications
