Patient Safety Specialist assists in the development and implementation of patient safety programs. Gathers data detailing patient-related errors and conducts analysis for management detailing the cause of the error. Being a Patient Safety Specialist recommends changes, policies, or programs that could prevent future errors. Gives presentations and training programs meant to increase awareness of patient safety initiatives. Additionally, Patient Safety Specialist tests patient-safety knowledge of employees and recommends changes to training programs. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Patient Safety Specialist contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project.     Patient Safety Nurse Specialist - RN - Emergency Department - Days    

    At New York-Presbyterian Hospital, Emergency Department (ED) nursing is a moment-to-moment, career-transforming experience. ED nurses independently assess conditions and rapidly arrange multidisciplinary care, from high-tech intervention to community outreach. Our nurse leaders independently identify challenges and rapidly arrange multidisciplinary care for patients when every second counts. Our nurse leaders also drive strategic initiatives that shape the future of emergency care.

    Bring your passion for patient safety and quality outcomes to NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Hudson Valley and drive nursing excellence in our Emergency Department.  You'll work collaboratively with the leadership and interdisciplinary teams, and your insights and contributions will be highly valued in ensuring that the team adheres to national clinical standards and practice of patient safety. Lead important initiatives and provide formal education to nurses.  Collect and present data analytics and results to senior leadership. You'll partner with the Nursing Leadership to conduct patient safety rounds, counsel staff RNs, and provide clinical education and follow-up as necessary.

    This is a full-time day flex shift at NYP/Hudson Valley Hospital.

    Preferred Criteria

    • Strong communication and collaboration

    • Demonstrated clinical leadership

    • Master’s Degree

    Required Criteria

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing

    • Current New York State RN license (or willingness to obtain)

    • Prior clinical nursing experience in an Emergency Department setting
