Patient Safety Specialist assists in the development and implementation of patient safety programs. Gathers data detailing patient-related errors and conducts analysis for management detailing the cause of the error. Being a Patient Safety Specialist recommends changes, policies, or programs that could prevent future errors. Gives presentations and training programs meant to increase awareness of patient safety initiatives. Additionally, Patient Safety Specialist tests patient-safety knowledge of employees and recommends changes to training programs. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Patient Safety Specialist contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project. Summary:
DME and Rehab: The Patient Service Specialist maintains, delivers, picks up, repairs equipment, and instructs patients on proper usage. The Specialist assists with completion of patient account information forms, and when appropriate collects payment. Concentrator Check: The Patient Service Specialist, which conducts Preventive Maintenance on Concentrators Checks, is expected to maintain Category II (oxygen) Medical Equipment in accordance with manufacturer recommendations and State regulations. All Patient Services specialists are required to complete a health screening physical, carry the medical card with them while working and undergo random drug and alcohol testing. Performs other duties as assigned.
