Environmental, Health & SafetyJob Summary:The Field Safety Specialist is responsible for ensuring that Team Members have the skills, knowledge, and training to effectively implement the corporate and facility EHS policies. Planning, coordinating, communicating, and facilitating are major responsibilities of this position. This position will work directly with the maintenance and production technicians upwards of 90% in efforts to bolster effective safety programs and strive for a culture of safety excellence. This position will assist with the Emergency Response Plan and Emergency Response Team responsibilities.Job Description:1. Have the creativity and ability to modify cultures or mindsets to improve safety performance.
2. Participate in site audits and work with plant personnel to help address any deficiencies.
3. Facilitate the coordination and delivery of safety meetings, safety tours and safety trainings.
4. Assist in the implementation of new safety-related programs and maintenance of safety equipment.
5. Monitor daily plant activities to assist with questions or concerns, address safety concerns and implementing acceptable safety practices/conditions.
6. Train others on procedures and periodically audit for compliance.
7. Foster discussion and feedback from site operational teams on potential new safety programs or initiatives.
8. Support the site Emergency Response Team and the Incident Command System.
9. Hold morning safety discussions with plant personnel to discuss various safety topics.
10. Is involved in daily Job Hazard Analysis of high-risk activities to help ensure safety issues are addressed.
11. Work with site leadership in the development of effective Safety Training Programs.
12. Participate in incident investigations to identify root causes and assist with resolving action items.
13. Conduct daily safety rounds/audits of major and routine CF Team Member and contractor work activities throughout the facility and especially in designated areas of the facility.
14. Conduct physical plant safety assessments (audits) on a regular schedule to ensure compliance with CF and regulatory requirements and to develop an understanding of improvement opportunities.
15. Assist plant supervision/management in initiating appropriate controls (engineering, administrative, PPE) to reduce exposures to the lowest levels feasible.
16. Support turnarounds and plant outages, which may include working nights, weekends, and holidays.
17. Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements:
1. Safety degree, certification or related technical undergraduate degree preferred.
2. Requires a minimum of one (1) year relevant work experience in safety field. Three (3) years' experience as a safety professional is desired.
3. Experience in a plant manufacturing setting.
4. Basic knowledge or experience in Process Safety Management (PSM); experience in a PSM regulated facility preferred.
5. Knowledge of state, local and U.S. Government regulations (OSHA, EPA, etc.).
6. Exposure to project management and implementation.
7. Effective organizational, time management and communication skills.
8. Good interpersonal and influential skills.
9. Strong computer-related skills.
10. Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and decision-making skills.
11. Self-motivated in advancing to the highest level possible.
12. Experience in Incident Command (IC) Systems and emergency preparedness/response preferred.
