Other responsibilities include retrieving medical records, lab results, supplies and medications. Being a Patient Transporter may require a high school diploma or its equivalent. Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Additionally, Patient Transporter typically reports to a supervisor. The Patient Transporter may require 0-1 year of general work experience. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. The Transporter is responsible for safe, efficient transportation of patients throughout the hospital. This position performs selected patient care activities as assigned and makes decisions both independently and in collaboration with RNs and/or RTs. The Transporter enters pertinent information regarding said transfers into Meditech and/or paper based charting as directed. The Transporter is responsible for intradepartmental stocking or gathering of materials and supplies for nursing units from central supply and blood bank as assigned. The Transporter has direct patient contact, access to confidential patient information, and may work collaboratively with a variety of disciplines.
