Patient Transporter transports patients to and from their inpatient beds and other areas like therapy, surgery or radiology. Other responsibilities include retrieving medical records, lab results, supplies and medications. Being a Patient Transporter may require a high school diploma or its equivalent. Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Additionally, Patient Transporter typically reports to a supervisor. The Patient Transporter may require 0-1 year of general work experience. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. DescriptionEssential Functions
- Performs data entry and processes patient transport dispatches via the Tele-Tracking System.
- Adjust assignments of patient transport duties when needed
- Fields calls to transport office for patient transport status changes
- Performs daily report per shift with transport team of duties and assignments
- Performs transport new hire training.
- Communicates with other departments to assess their transport needs
- Must be orientated to physical layout of hospital and locations of patient testing areas.
- Acts as provisional supervisor when supervisor/manager is not on duty.
- Provides training and education to new users of Transport Teletracking System.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Complies with all policies and standards.
- For specific duties and responsibilities, refer to documentation provided by the department during orientation.
- Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.
