Patient Transporter transports patients to and from their inpatient beds and other areas like therapy, surgery or radiology. Other responsibilities include retrieving medical records, lab results, supplies and medications. Being a Patient Transporter may require a high school diploma or its equivalent. Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Additionally, Patient Transporter typically reports to a supervisor. The Patient Transporter may require 0-1 year of general work experience. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. The Transporter is responsible for the safe and secure transportation of patients to include infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient populations.
High School Diploma or GED required. BCLS required.
Ability to lift, support and transfer safely, patients to and from stretchers, wheelchairs, and beds. Physical capabilities shall be adequate to insure and meet patient safety handling requirements. Should be adept in communication with patients, physicians, and co-workers in a friendly supportive manner.
