    Job Description:
    JOB SUMMARY
    The Patient Transporter provides physical movement of patients and patient related materials, supplies, and equipment within a medical complex. This individual has responsibilities involving indirect and direct patient care by transporting patients to and from appointments utilizing equipment based on patient needs. The size of patients, beds, and ancillary equipment will vary with every patient transfer. The Patient Transporter can expect to be in physical activity for most of the day and will walk a large portion of the campus in a workday. The Patient Transporter is responsible for of delivery specimens to designated locations. The Patient Transporter will be trained to work in both the hospital and ambulatory setting.
    WORK SHIFT
    Variable shifts to include a weekend and holiday rotation.
    JOB QUALIFICATIONS
    EDUCATION
    For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation.
    Minimum Required: Completed Junior year of high school.
    Preferred/Optional: High school diploma or equivalent
    EXPERIENCE
    Minimum Required: None
    Preferred/Optional: Patient transport, customer service, or public relations experience. Demonstrated proficiency with verbal and non-verbal communication skills. Knowledge of medical terminology.
    CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES
    The following licensure(s), certification(s), registration(s), etc., are required for this position. Licenses with restrictions are subject to review to determine if restrictions are substantially related to the position.
    Minimum Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) within three months of hire.
    Preferred/Optional: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) at time of hire.
