Summary of Other Job Duties and Expectations
Must be competent and knowledgeable in regards to the needs and concerns of individuals in various age groups (pediatrics to geriatrics).
Document and alert the Radiology Supervisor/Director of the malfunction of various types of medical equipment used in the performance of job duties
Make recommendations to the Operations Manager as to additional transport, IV poles, and oxygen equipment needed to operate the department
Make recommendation to nursing staff on how to use proper transport modes for patients
Recognize emergency situations and initiate code procedures and CPR if necessary
Assure proper handling of patient's IV and other medical devices during transport
Notify nursing units when leaving and returning with patients and utilizes ticket to ride.
Assist in the movement of patients to and from wheelchairs, stretchers, beds, and radiographic tables, utilizing safety procedures and correct body mechanics
Clean and initiate repairs as necessary on all transport equipment
Fill oxygen tanks as needed and check oxygen regulators for proper operations prior to use
Utilize proper isolation techniques according to Hospital policy
Assist patients to and from stretchers, wheelchairs, and radiology equipment to include CT/MRI scanner
Review patient's chart and verify physician’s orders prior to patient transport to the department
Communicate equipment malfunctions and low inventory levels to the appropriate supervisor
Rotate call as needed
Present self in a positive manner, as reflected by personal attire and etiquette
Demonstrate a commitment to flexible scheduling when necessary to ensure patient care
May be crossed trained as needed
