To thrive as a Heavy Equipment Operator at Heiberger Paving Inc, you'll need to bring a set of skills and abilities that keep our projects running smoothly. Here are some of the skills and responsibilities you can expect in this role: - Knowledge of equipment maintenance: You'll be responsible for checking oil, fuel, and water reservoirs before operating the machinery. Additionally, you'll assist in fueling and greasing equipment daily to ensure optimal performance on the job.
- Assisting with measurements and layouts: Working closely with foremen, you'll assist in marking layouts and measurements. Reading grade stakes and communicating depth adjustments to operators and foremen will also be part of your role. - Team coordination and communication: As a Heavy Equipment Operator, you'll assist in directing dump trucks when entering and exiting the job site.
You'll also distribute stone material with a shovel as needed and use a Viber Tamp to compact stone in corners and around obstacles. - Equipment operation and maintenance: From operating rollers to navigating surfaces for proper drainage, you'll be skilled in breaking down and compacting stone. You'll also ensure equipment is loaded properly for the day, conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections, and follow safe driving habits.
