Mental Health Recovery Specialists (MHRS) is a NY-based treatment and recovery program that provides support where our clients need it the most: in their environment. Our team works with clients in their home, school, community, or provide virtual support to bridge the gap between treatment and “real” life.
MHRS creates an individualized plan of support for clients struggling with various types of mental health conditions. Our outpatient services include psychotherapy, recovery coaching, expressive therapies, case management, parent coaching, nutrition therapy, skills building, and mental health companions. Services can be combined and adjusted for specific needs to ensure clients’ treatment with their outpatient team and MHRS has the highest level of coordination to best support recovery.

We support all facets of clients’ lives through action-oriented goals, life skills development, self-care practices in order to create meaning and purpose in their lives outside of their mental health condition.
Job Description:
MHRS therapists provide a range of assessments, interventions, and therapeutic recovery coaching for individuals struggling with a range of mental health conditions, including mood disorders, anxiety, OCD, personality disorders, ADHD, substance use disorders, and trauma. The schedule is flexible (a combination of days, evenings, and one weekend day) and is ideal for someone building a private practice or working an additional up to 7-10 hours a week.
Core Duties and Responsibilities:
- Must have competence in one or more of the following diagnoses/modalities: OCD, PTSD, ADHD, ASD, BPD, Family Therapy, Adolescents
- Provide in-person and/or virtual Psychotherapy, Recovery Coaching, and other Therapeutic Support services (all virtual at this time until in-person work is deemed safe)
- Proper documentation of all services rendered within 24 hours.
- Communicate with clients’ Care Coordinators and other Recovery Specialists as needed
- Coordinate care with additional outpatient team members to ensure continuity of care as needed
- Continually assess clients’ progress and level of care, update treatment plans, and complete transition/discharge plans when indicated.
- Communicate with clients’ family/support as indicated.
Requirements Related to Schedule and Structure of Position
- Complete weekly tracking sheet at the end of each week to communicate availability.
- Monthly Contractor meeting Offered 4x/month at 2 different time
- All Contractors required to attend 2x/month
- Attend bi-weekly supervision 1:1 with Clinical Director
- Will provide staff info on Psychology Today and website
- No set shift times are needed but must be able to commit to a tentative schedule for at least a 3-month period to maintain appropriate clinical care. Unavailability must be discussed during onboarding to determine if employee is available at most times needed
- Must be available either 2 weeknights or 1 week night and 1 weekend day or evening
- Availability for in-person work is a plus
- Organized, reliable, and detail-oriented.
- Respond to phone and electronic communication in a timely manner.
- Conscientious self-starter who embraces and enjoys autonomous work.
- Must have a private location when working remotely from with stable internet access.
