Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Payment Poster to join our team. As a Payment Poster, you will be responsible for accurately processing and posting payments received from patients and insurance companies. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring the financial stability of our medical office.
Duties:
- Process and post payments received from patients and insurance companies
- Verify accuracy of payment information, including patient demographics, insurance details, and payment amounts
- Review Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) and remittance advice to ensure proper payment allocation
- Identify and resolve any discrepancies or errors in payment posting
- Update patient accounts with accurate payment information
- Reconcile daily payment batches with bank deposits
- Prepare reports on payment activity and outstanding balances as needed
- Collaborate with the billing department to address any billing or coding issues that may impact payment posting
Experience:
- Previous experience in medical coding, medical billing, or medical office systems is preferred
- Familiarity with medical records, medical terminology, ICD-9 codes, DRG codes, and medical collections is a plus
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively
- Proficient computer skills, including experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems and Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
