Payment Recovery Specialist is responsible for analysis of denied reimbursement claims. Ensures appropriate insurance coverage for compliance standards and revenue generation. Being a Payment Recovery Specialist monitors, evaluates, and reviews all cost reporting in support of claims. Coordinates with departments and insurance companies to correct errors as necessary. Specialist performs assigned duties including import, review, and edit of all remittances from all third-party insurance companies as well as payments directly from patients.
High school diploma or GED required. Additional technical education preferred. Prior coding experience and knowledge of medical terminology preferred along with billing and collections experience. Must have an understanding of CPT and ICD-10 coding and an understanding of EOBs. Accurate keyboarding skills required along with proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills along with astute attention to detail. Must have excellent attendance and be a self-starter and able to work independently.
