Recovery Support Specialist

    Position Summary:
    The Recovery Support Specialist is Part Time 25 hours and is responsible for assisting participants referred to the Reach 4 Recovery program to form a Recovery Support Team to enhance their home, health, community, and purpose for the participant to successfully achieve their goals as identified in the individualized recovery plan. The Recovery Support Specialist will assist clients in navigating the mental health and substance use system of care, remove barriers to recovery, stay engaged in the recovery process and live a full life in the community of their choice. Will be an active team member helping through recovery supports to participants and their families.

    Essential Functions:

    • Make initial contact with the client in the community or hospital/rehab/jail/detention settings, develop a preliminary treatment plan and assist the client to develop a Recovery Support Team.
    • Facilitate all aspects of client support services to include but not limited to, case management (transportation, appointments, independent living search, legal advocacy, benefit application, attend court hearing), crisis support, monitoring of recovery plan to support least restrictive care as client progresses, maintain communication with participant and recovery support team, complete recovery plans ongoing, assist with choosing and accessing services as needed.
    • Contributes to agency performance improvement efforts to assure treatment is in accordance with state regulations and accrediting body standards.
    • Collaborate/communicate with systems partners
    • Documents all clinical activity and correspondence in accordance with Center policy, state regulations, and Joint Commission standards.
    • Engage in team meetings and individual supervision
    • Works closely with the CARE Clinical Supervisor on progress towards program goals and to ensure all data collection required for grant reporting is completed
    • Engages in continuing education to maintain and develop clinical skills, meet agency competency standards and satisfy requirements for ongoing licensure
    • Performs other related duties as assigned

    Essential Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s level in, psychology, counseling, social work, criminal justice, education or other behavioral health profession and Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) or Certified Recovery Support Specialist (CRSS) or Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS).
    • Must have relevant experience in providing services and case management to individuals living with a substance use disorder.
    • Has experience in working across cultures.
    • Must possess knowledge in formal/informal community systems and resources.
    • Must have knowledge of Wellness and Recovery Principles, Person Centered Care, Trauma Informed Care and Integrated Healthcare.
    • Must possess a valid NJ driver’s license in good standing.
    • Skill in the operation of office equipment, including but not limited to computers, printers, copiers, calculators, and other job specific equipment.
    • Ability to work collaboratively and build relationships with colleagues, coworkers, vendors, contractors, and the public.
    • Ability to accurately prepare and maintain files, records, reports, and logs.
    • Skill in using computer applications including electronic health record, spreadsheets, databases, and word processing software.
    • Ability to identify and maintain confidential information.
    • Ability to comprehend, express and exchange information in English over the phone, in person, in writing or through other communication or electronic devices.

    ​Preferred Qualifications:

    • Knowledge of community resources and services and the ability to collaborate with other professionals.
    • Trained in conducting Substance Use Interventions.
    • Bilingual (English/Spanish).
    • Lived experience in mental health and/or substance use disorders and in recovery for five years.
