Payroll Administrator is responsible for the accurate preparation, documentation, distribution and reconciliation of payroll and the administration of the payroll system. Reviews the computation of pay and associated deductions for accuracy. Being a Payroll Administrator maintains up-to-date knowledge of city, state, provincial, local, and federal legislation affecting payroll; understands and follows applicable provisions. Prepares required tax filings and other reporting. Additionally, Payroll Administrator may coordinate payroll processing with an outside service provider. Responds to and resolves any inquiries regarding paychecks or payroll reporting. Ensures payroll issues are escalated and resolved promptly. May require an associate degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Payroll Administrator work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role.     Job Purpose

    The primary responsibility of this position is to accurately and timely process both the hourly and salary payroll and also be an integral part of the HR team by assisting with various other duties, projects, and assignments.

    Job Duties and Responsibilities

    Process hourly payroll accurately using ADP Time & Attendance to ensure compliance, accuracy, and efficiency

    • Manage Time & Attendance with support staff and supervisors while maintaining precise payroll records
    • Provide daily, weekly, monthly payroll and attendance reports as requested and / or scheduled
    • Data entry as requested for plant communications
    • Process new hires, employee data changes, separations and payroll adjustments
    • Ensures compliance and adhere to company polices relating to processing of timecards
    • Provide service to employees regarding concerns with payroll and benefits, research and trouble shoot inquiries and / or refer to appropriate resource
    • Coordinate resolution with HR / ADP Payroll / Benefit representatives to address any inquiries / requests on an on-going basis
    • Maintain business controls and audit trails for all payroll transactions, I-9’s, Garnishments, etc.
    • Maintain control of company payroll files, with strict confidentiality
    • Filing, manage uniform orders and other payroll needs
    • Provide support to Human Resources and senior staff with projects
    • Assist Human Resources department with additional duties as needed

    Qualifications

    • High School Diploma / GED
    • Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Business or related field plus one year of full-time payroll experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
    • Minimum of 1 year payroll experience, preferably with ADP Time and Attendance software
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and time sensitive deadlines, efficiently
    • Advanced computer skills in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and Power Point) and expert knowledge of grammar, punctuation and editing
    • Strong working knowledge of payroll practices and labor & compliance guidelines
    • Experience with report writing module, exporting / importing for monthly reporting
    • Strong communication, organization of tasks and customer service skills are a must
    • Meticulous attention to detail, self-motivated, maintains confidentiality
    • Proactive and capable of working as a member of a team, as well as independently
    • Ability to anticipate important timing needs that may impact the company’s payroll and benefits
    • Understanding the importance and sensitivity of the payroll coordinator position
    • Ability to understand a sense of urgency related to payroll requests and expectations
