The AMSOIL Human Resources Department is recruiting a Payroll & Benefits Specialist. Primary responsibilities of this role include managing and processing companywide (multi-state, Canadian, and Union) weekly and bi-weekly payroll, administering all employee benefit related activities, Leaves of Absence (LOA) requests, and managing the Worker's Compensation program. This position offers a hybrid work schedule requiring a minimum of two days a week onsite at our Corporate Office located in Superior, Wisconsin.
Core Responsibilities:
- Lead the end-to-end payroll process for a weekly and bi-weekly payroll for US and Canada using Dayforce HCM, ensuring accuracy, timeliness and compliance.
- Process employee wage garnishments and levies, child support orders, tax withholdings, voluntary deductions, direct deposits and other payroll related items.
- Serve as the subject matter expert for, and ensure compliance with, federal, state, and local agency payroll and benefit tax laws, regulations and reporting requirements.
- Administer new state tax setups within Dayforce and maintain updates for existing states.
- Act as primary contact for employee payroll inquiries.
- Manage and administer all employee benefit programs including 401(k), health, dental, vision, life insurance, short- and long-term disability and other voluntary benefits to ensure timely and accurate delivery of benefits.
- Coordinate full lifecycle of benefits processing. Enroll all new employees in benefits, administer any changes throughout the year, oversee and manage open-enrollments and terminate benefits and complete COBRA information upon employee departure from the company.
- Conduct benefit orientations with new employees, answer employee benefits questions, resolve problems, process forms, changes, termination of coverages and special requests.
- Reconcile monthly benefit invoices to ensure accuracy and resolve any issues or discrepancies.
- Serve as primary contact for benefit plan vendors and third-party administrators and as primary contact for employees with changes and/or questions.
- Partner with HR Director to develop and maintain competitive benefit programs.
- Oversee and process all year-end reporting, including W-2's and ACA requirements.
Position Requirements:
- 3 years' experience processing multi-state and Canadian payroll required
- BA/BS degree in Human Resources, Accounting or related field or other relevant course of study preferred
- Experience working with payroll, HRIS or HCM systems, specifically Dayforce & Paychex, strongly preferred
- Comprehensive knowledge of payroll, tax and benefit compliance and reporting
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively, courteously, and professionally, in person, in writing and over the phone with employees at all levels
- High ethical standards and integrity, ability to use discretion and deal sensitively with confidential information
- Proven ability to prioritize many tasks and deadlines effectively, manage time and complete tasks / projects with a high level of efficiency and accuracy
- Must be organized with a strong and acute attention to detail
- Ability to respond and resolve payroll and benefit questions and discrepancies in a professional, accurate and timely manner while delivering quality customer service
- General knowledge of employment laws affecting employee pay and benefits
- Proficient in relevant computer systems (Microsoft Office, specifically Word and Excel)
One or more of the following professional certifications preferred:
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP)
- Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS)
- SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP, PHR/SPHR
