Payroll Administrator is responsible for the accurate preparation, documentation, distribution and reconciliation of payroll and the administration of the payroll system. Reviews the computation of pay and associated deductions for accuracy. Being a Payroll Administrator maintains up-to-date knowledge of city, state, provincial, local, and federal legislation affecting payroll; understands and follows applicable provisions. Prepares required tax filings and other reporting. Additionally, Payroll Administrator may coordinate payroll processing with an outside service provider. Responds to and resolves any inquiries regarding paychecks or payroll reporting. Ensures payroll issues are escalated and resolved promptly. May require an associate degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Payroll Administrator work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. Job Description
We are looking for a skilled and dedicated Human Resources and Payroll Administrator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing both payroll and human resources functions, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency.
Responsibilities
Payroll Administration
- Process payroll for all employees accurately and on time.
- Verify hours worked, deductions, and withholdings.
- Maintain accurate payroll records and employee information in the payroll system.
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll-related matters.
- Prepare and distribute payroll reports as needed.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations.
- Assist with payroll audits and reconciliations.
Human Resources Administration
- Assist with recruitment and onboarding processes, including posting job openings, screening resumes, scheduling interviews, and conducting new hire orientations.
- Maintain employee records, including personnel files, benefits information, and performance evaluations.
- Coordinate employee benefits enrollment and changes.
- Assist with employee relations issues and disciplinary actions.
- Support HR initiatives and programs, such as employee engagement surveys, training, and development activities.
- Stay up-to-date on changes in employment laws and regulations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or related field (preferred).
- Proven experience in payroll and human resources administration roles.
- Strong understanding of payroll processes and HR best practices.
- Proficiency in payroll software, HRIS systems, and MS Office, especially Excel.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, both in-person and remotely.
- Certification in payroll (CPP, FPC) and/or HR (PHR, SHRM-CP) is a plus.
