Payroll Administrator is responsible for the accurate preparation, documentation, distribution and reconciliation of payroll and the administration of the payroll system. Reviews the computation of pay and associated deductions for accuracy. Being a Payroll Administrator maintains up-to-date knowledge of city, state, provincial, local, and federal legislation affecting payroll; understands and follows applicable provisions. Prepares required tax filings and other reporting. Additionally, Payroll Administrator may coordinate payroll processing with an outside service provider. Responds to and resolves any inquiries regarding paychecks or payroll reporting. Ensures payroll issues are escalated and resolved promptly. May require an associate degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Payroll Administrator work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. Payroll Manager

  • Primary Duties and Responsibilities includes but not limited to:

    • Oversees the design, configuration of payroll processes in Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment’s (MGE) accounting/payroll system
    • Ensures the accounting/payroll system is designed to enable timely processing of payroll for multiple entities
    • Ensures all payroll related processes including (but not limited to) wage garnishment, tax processes, tip allocations are designed in accordance with applicable laws
    • Collaborates will all entities to ensure payroll processes are documented and complete in the accounting system
    • Responsible for change management activities to drive user adoption
    • Performs project tasks as required to maintain project timelines
    • Ensures payroll milestones within the project are met on time and delivered with quality
    • Verifies payroll data for completeness and accuracy to ensure data in MGE’s accounting/payroll system is correct
    • Responsible for all payroll testing, regression testing and required parallel payroll cycles are successfully accomplished in the accounting/payroll system
    • Coaches and mentors payroll project team members
    • This role is hybrid with required time in Connecticut and may require travel between different offices for periods of time

    Secondary Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Maintains confidentiality of all employee and company information and provides superior customer service
    • Responsible for creating or ensuring all payroll related system reports are created
    • Designs processes to handle payroll exceptions in the accounting/payroll system
    • Complies with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA)

    Competencies: Incumbent will master the following competencies while in this position:

    • Knowledge of Workday and Kronos Time and Attendance systems
    • Knowledge of MGE Corporate and department policies and procedures
    • Intermediate experience with Word and Excel
    • Strong leadership and collaboration skills and the ability to develop positive relationships with business partners
    • Ability to work independently and make appropriate decisions
    • Thorough understanding of Federal and State wage and hour laws and tip allocation
    • Understanding of the Federal Tipped Employee Participation Agreement (TEPA)
    • Knowledge of department policies and procedures

    Training Requirements:

    • Training as required by MGE
    • Must be HIPAA certified
    • Ongoing system training

    Physical Demands and Work Environment:

    • Office work environment
    • Must be able to use computer continually for an extended period of time
    • Must be able to work various shifts and flexible hours
