Payroll Administrator is responsible for the accurate preparation, documentation, distribution and reconciliation of payroll and the administration of the payroll system. Reviews the computation of pay and associated deductions for accuracy. Being a Payroll Administrator maintains up-to-date knowledge of city, state, provincial, local, and federal legislation affecting payroll; understands and follows applicable provisions. Prepares required tax filings and other reporting. Additionally, Payroll Administrator may coordinate payroll processing with an outside service provider. Responds to and resolves any inquiries regarding paychecks or payroll reporting. Ensures payroll issues are escalated and resolved promptly. May require an associate degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Payroll Administrator work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. Payroll Administrator Responsibilities
Handle daily payroll department operations, including collecting and verifying timekeeping information and processing payroll
Maintain accurate payroll records including required payroll garnishments
Reconcile bank statements
Understanding of payroll taxes and withholdings
Accounts payable and receivable
Manage employee benefits
Responds to payroll and benefit related inquiries and resolving concerns
Ensure that employee payroll processing is compliant with Federal and State laws
Manage salary changes, deductions, bonuses, PTO payouts
Assist with the onboarding of new employees
Maintain employee confidentiality and protect payroll operations by keeping all private information confidential
Other duties as assigned by management
Payroll Administrator Qualifications
Experience with QuickBooks required
Accounting/payroll experience is a plus
Strong proficiency in Excel and Word
Strong communication skills, written and verbal, and excellent people skills
Ability to organize, multitask, and prioritize in a deadline-driven environment
High School Diploma or equivalent
