Payroll Clerk jobs in Augusta, GA
Payroll Clerk prepares and processes payroll and associated information. Collates and verifies data and inputs into the payroll system. Being a Payroll Clerk updates payroll records and processes routine changes to employee records. Performs basic reconciliation and auditing processes during each pay cycle. Additionally, Payroll Clerk responds to pay-related inquiries from staff. Researches and resolves errors or omissions. May prepare and submit reports and forms required by IRS or other regulatory bodies. Follows all processing procedures, adheres to policies, and maintains confidentiality. Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Payroll Clerk works under moderate supervision. Payroll Clerk (Project-Based with Conversion Potential) - Manufacturing Focus! Do you have a sixth sense for spotting errors and a knack for transforming messy data into payroll perfection? This project-based role (3-5 months) could be your gateway to a permanent Payroll Clerk position (with strong performance)!
Responsibilities:
- Assist with payroll processing tasks (data entry, verification, deductions, etc.) under the direct supervision of the Payroll team (opportunity to learn core payroll functions).
- Participate in payroll audits and compliance efforts specific to the manufacturing industry.
- Generate reports and dashboards to visualize and communicate complex payroll information for the HR department and management.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of new payroll processes and procedures.
- Provide support to employees with payroll-related inquiries.
Working hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Skills:
- Associates or Bachelor's in Accounting or Equivalent preferred
- Experience navigating large datasets and identifying trends within a manufacturing context preferred
- State Tax knowledge preferred
- ADP Payroll
Education:
Associate
Experience:
1-4 years
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 2 year of experience in Payroll
- Basic understanding of payroll tax principles
- Payroll Code Knowledge
- Strong Excel skills
