Payroll Clerk, Sr. prepares and processes payroll and associated information. Collates and verifies data and inputs into the payroll system. Being a Payroll Clerk, Sr. updates payroll records and processes routine changes to employee records. Performs basic reconciliation and auditing processes during each pay cycle. Additionally, Payroll Clerk, Sr. responds to pay-related inquiries from staff. Researches and resolves errors or omissions. May prepare and submit reports and forms required by IRS or other regulatory bodies. Follows all processing procedures, adheres to policies, and maintains confidentiality. PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
Maintains payroll information by collecting, calculating, and entering data into the payroll system, as well as retrieving data when necessary.
Ensure compliance with union contract(s) terms.
Calculate wages, hours, benefits, tax withholdings, deductions, etc.
Responsible for the preparation, processing and distribution of paychecks.
Initiating and responding to payroll-related inquiries and resolving concerns.
Prepare periodic payroll reports.
Perform clerical duties such as filing, scanning, faxing, photocopying, etc.
Coordinating with the HR department to ensure correct employee data is entered in the records.
Maintaining accurate records of payroll documentation and transactions.
Performing account balance and payroll reconciliations.
Providing administrative assistance to the Accounting Department.
Preparing financial reports for accounting and auditing purposes.
Preparing periodic payroll reports for review by management.
Prepare monthly OCIP reporting, Union Trust Fund/Pension reports and Labor Statistics.
Promotes awareness of and follows Company and general safety policies.
PRINCIPAL REQUIREMENTS:
Education High School Diploma, Accounting degree preferred
Experience 2 years accounting experience, preferably in payroll in the construction industry preferred
Computer Skills Working knowledge of Word, Excel, Email. Aptitude to learn in-house systems. Keyboarding skills sufficient to complete daily tasks in a timely manner.
10-key, by touch desired
Math Strong mathematical skills to produce accurate calculations for payroll.
Reading Good reading skills required.
License
Other Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
Detail oriented and ability to observe confidentiality with sensitive information.
Able to work flexible hours, as required.
