Payroll Director directs all aspects of payroll processing operations. Establishes and oversees payroll processes and procedures for routine processing, tax reporting and internal financial requirements. Being a Payroll Director designs short-term and long-term strategies to achieve continuous improvement and efficiencies in payroll processing and delivery operations. Keeps stakeholders informed about the status of payroll laws and regulations and develops implementation plans for required changes to operations. Additionally, Payroll Director requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to senior management. The Payroll Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Payroll Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.     POSITION SUMMARY

    This position is to provide administration and processing payroll for different types of business clients. Processing and maintaining all deductions and payrolls for different types of businesses on a payroll cycle that is weekly, biweekly, and semi-monthly, with employees ranging from 1 – 600 employees. They will be responsible for the timely and accurate processing of all payroll-related transactions. This includes recording hours, processing time records, compiling payroll reports, maintaining employee payroll records, calculating overtime pay, bonuses, adjustments, in-house processing of checks and direct deposits and terminations. Additionally, she/he must be able to interpret state and federal laws as they pertain to the business.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

    • Deliver best-in-class customer service to staff, clients and employees at all times, with an emphasis on being responsive, professional, and accurate.
    • Effectively communicates with staff, clients and employees to ensure understanding of payroll processing and expectations.
    • Maintains employee’s payroll files, enter employee’s deductions and employee’s direct deposit.
    • Responsible for the timely and accurate, preparation, payment and record keeping of all hours and deductions into the payroll system. Prepare payroll reports for clients.
    • Reconcile all health, supplemental benefits, 401K and garnishment deductions.
    • Prepare checks and direct deposits for mailing or delivery.
    • Be able to calculate manual payroll checks and projections on pay.
    • Provides assistance to clients and employees on payroll issues and problems.
    • Be able to interpret state and federal law per business and effectively communicate that to the client, employee and internal staff.
    • Payroll trainings are mandatory throughout the year.
    • Maintain regular and open communications between Payroll Processors/Payroll Supervisor of any urgent needs and concerns of staff, clients and employees.
    • Performs other duties as needed or assigned by the Payroll Supervisor.

    PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

    The ideal Payroll Specialist has 1 - 3 years’ ISolved payroll processing experience and/or graduation of an accredited business or vocational school specializing in accounting/bookkeeping classes. This person will meet most or all of the following requirements:

    • Type 45 – 50 wpm.
    • 10-key by touch.
    • Must have knowledge of payroll procedures, practices and standards.
    • Multi-task, prioritize and organize task/ files in multiple software systems.
    • Communicate effectively policies and procedures clearly to staff, clients and employees.
    • Have discretion as the person will have access to confidential information and must keep this information private.
    • Work with distraction and under strict timelines.
    • Work independently.
    • Work on a team and as a team member.
    • Work with various standard office equipment, including but not limited to phone system, copier, fax machine, mail machine, check printer, personal computer.

    Computer Skills: Proficient in MS Outlook, MS Word, and Excel experience preferred. Ability to learn other advanced computer systems.

    Other Requirements:

    May be required to assist in other duties and/or projects as assigned by Supervisor. Prior experience working in a high-functioning and fast-paced office environment is a plus. Some travel to the client’s work site locations may be required. May be required to work in the evenings and weekends as necessary.

    Job Type: Full-time

    Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
