Payroll Specialist

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

• Follow appropriate workflows and procedures for the operations department.
• Handles a high volume of correspondence by telephone, email, and fax while maintaining composure under stress and keeping to the utmost professional standards.
• Collect, audit, and analyze payroll and timesheet data.
• Process payroll for 500 employees and 100 clients in accordance with local, state and federal regulations and company guidelines. The average client size may range from 50 to 100 employees or higher and have a higher complexity than our smaller clients depending on services needed.
• Research and resolve all payroll discrepancies in a timely and accurate manner.
• Contact clients to obtain necessary information, build relationships and resolve issues.
• Update and maintain federal and state W4 information and employee direct deposit information.
• Process severance, bonuses, employee benefits, and various deductions.
• 401K setup and processing
• Accurately read, understand and input Child supports and Garnishments.
• Accurately read, understand and input Time Off Accrual Policies for clients
• Accurately read, understand and input new client setup information
• Supports payroll processing questions and issues
• Perform year-end payroll activities.
• Develop knowledge of features and functionality of the payroll processing system
• Perform such other duties, appropriate to the role, as may be required from time to time.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

• A minimum of 2 years of payroll processing experience required, preferably in a multi-client, multi-state and multi-system production environment
• Solid understanding of payroll and payroll tax laws required
• Solid experience in MS Office
• A Proven facility in customer service, and problem resolution
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Excellent organizational, planning, and prioritization skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills
