Payroll Manager is responsible for managing payroll processing operations. Establishes policies and processes that ensure accurate calculation of wages, tax withholdings, and company deductions. Being a Payroll Manager interfaces between finance and human resource departments to provide accurate and useful information. Develops and produces payroll-related statistical reports. Additionally, Payroll Manager ensures accurate and on-time governmental reporting and compliance. Oversees the activities and training of both professionals and support staff. Directs the resolution of complex issues or errors. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Payroll Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Payroll Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     We are seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to join our fast-paced, privately held growing team located in Lexington, Kentucky. The ideal person for this role will manage the payroll cycle and oversee this process for multiple dental practices in multiple states.

    A Day In The Life Of

    • Oversee the processing of multi-state, multi-entity payroll for all employees using Paycor, ensuring all payroll processing is carried out in an accurate, compliant, efficient and expedient manner each week.
    • Set, manage and monitor the Payroll Processing department deadlines, goals, processing times and key performance indicators.
    • Serve as a direct contact with partner doctors and office managers regarding payroll questions and discrepancies.
    • Oversee the payroll tax function (jurisdictional account registration, W-2C amendment processing with Paycor, tax notices, SUI rate analysis, relocation).
    • Lead annual workers’ compensation audits and provide payroll estimates to be used by insurance carriers.
    • Solve payroll related issues, respond to payroll related inquiries and enforce payroll policies; Collaborate with internal departments on payroll-related issues.
    • Collaborate with the Controller on maintaining a system of internal controls.
    • Assist the accounting department with payroll reconciliation issues and month-end, quarter-end, year-end closing of the general ledger & financial statements.
    • Provide assistance with financial analysis pertaining to payroll & benefits for new market analysis.
    • Partner on organizational projects impacting employee records and payroll.

    • 5 years of payroll experience; 3 years of previous management & supervisory experience is required.
    • Proven experience working within a fast pace, professional environment. Prior client service is a huge plus!
    • Experience administering within Paycor and navigating Paycor Support preferred.
    • Strong communication, listening and interpersonal skills. You will catch our immediate attention by demonstrating an “out of the box” approach to problem solving.
    • Bachelor’s degree preferably in Finance/Accounting, Business, Human Resources or related field, or equivalent work experience.
    • Professional certifications such as Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) and SHRM certifications are preferred.
