Payroll Supervisor is responsible for the supervision and coordination of payroll processing operations. Ensures accurate calculation of wages and processing of tax withholding and company deductions. Being a Payroll Supervisor prepares statistical reports on employee pay, commissions and bonuses; vacation, sick, disability and workers compensation leave; taxes, withholding, etc. Oversees the distribution of paychecks and direct deposit programs. Provides training to team on policies, regulations, and processes. Additionally, Payroll Supervisor assists team members with resolving errors or responding to inquiries. May be the first level escalation for complaints or complex error resolution. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Payroll Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Payroll Supervisor typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. Thorough knowledge of functional area and department processes.     WORKING HOURS: This is an hourly position. The incumbent is expected to work the necessary hours to meet the needs of a 24 hour establishment.


    SUMMARY: Responsible for the administration and processing of the Casino's bi-weekly payroll. Ensures timely and accurate processing of employee paychecks. Complies with all Federal, State and Local labor laws and regulations that affect Payroll.


    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    1. Responsible for auditing all payroll transactions and balancing payroll runs.
    2. Obtains, reviews, and inputs correct payroll information into the payroll system.
    3. Maintains time clock system access and trains users and managers as necessary.
    4. Maintains accurate earning records and properly controls all employee deductions and withholdings.
    5. Produces and funds federal, state and local tax payments, employee direct deposits, and 401(k) deferrals.
    6. Complies with all established policies, procedures and internal controls related to personnel and payroll.
    7. Answers employee questions; troubleshoots and resolves issues quickly and efficiently.
    8. Works closely with Human Resources and all Department Managers to resolve issues and process necessary transactions.
    9. Prepares all Federal, State, local and internal reports relevant to payroll.
    10. Maintains employee payroll files and updates Payroll/HRIS database.
    11. Ensures all personnel are properly paid in accordance with the terms of employment and the Fair Labor Standards Act (FSLA).
    12. Coordinates with the IT Department to adjust and modify Payroll and reporting systems.
    13. Maintains complete confidentiality at all times.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: No supervisory responsibilities for this position.

    QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability required.

    1. Experience equivalent to 2-4 years full time payroll experience required.
    2. Must have general office experience, data entry, and 10 key by touch skills required.
    3. Must have current/recent experience in a payroll department of 25 Employees.
    4. Familiar with payroll reporting requirements.
    5. Good working knowledge of payroll processing is required.
    6. Good oral and written communication skills required.
    7. Excellent knowledge of the Great Plains software desired knowledge of other payroll programs acceptable.
    8. Ability to deal with sensitive and confidential data is essential.

    EDUCATION:

    • High School Diploma or GED.

    LANGUAGE SKILLS:

    • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills are important to the successful conduct of this position.
    • Ability to write accurate, grammatically correct, polished reports and business correspondence.
    • Must be able to speak with the public in a professional manner.

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

    • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.

    REASONING ABILITY:

    • Ability to proactively streamline processes for company's return on investment.
    • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
    • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
    • Ability to process detailed work and requests for information or assistance in a timely manner.
    • Ability to apply regulatory and procedure doctrine, concepts, and policy to practical situations.

    LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS:

    • Must be able to obtain and maintain a gaming license from the Dry Creek Gaming Commission.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    • Must be able to maneuver around all areas of the casino.
    • Must be able to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time.
    • Must be able to lift up to twenty pounds
    • Must have manual dexterity to operate a computer and other necessary office equipment.
    • Must be able to bend, reach, stoop, kneel, twist and grip items.
    • Must be able to respond to visual and audio cues.
