Payroll Supervisor is responsible for the supervision and coordination of payroll processing operations. Ensures accurate calculation of wages and processing of tax withholding and company deductions. Being a Payroll Supervisor prepares statistical reports on employee pay, commissions and bonuses; vacation, sick, disability and workers compensation leave; taxes, withholding, etc. Oversees the distribution of paychecks and direct deposit programs. Provides training to team on policies, regulations, and processes. Additionally, Payroll Supervisor assists team members with resolving errors or responding to inquiries. May be the first level escalation for complaints or complex error resolution. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Payroll Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Payroll Supervisor typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. Thorough knowledge of functional area and department processes.     Job Summary


    The Payroll Supervisor is the primary contact for all Team Members with payroll questions and concerns. Performs a variety of clerical, accounting, and record-keeping duties in relation to payroll processing and its timely, accurate completion.     Essential Duties & Responsibilities

    > All Team Members must embrace and deliver Kiowa's Guest Service Standards to every Guest on every shift, as outline in Orientation, the Team Member Handbook, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and any other related training
    > Consistently ensures an exceptional level of service and satisfaction is achieved throughout the property, exceeding the expectations of external and internal Guests alike in a timely and effective manner
    > Coordinates communications and information with Team Members and management to assure smooth and efficient payroll activities.
    > Establish payroll timelines and priorities.
    > Assure proper and timely resolution of payroll discrepancies, issues, and conflicts.
    > Compiles payroll data such as hours worked, sales or piecework, taxes, insurance and team member identification number, from time sheets and other records.
    > Prepares computer input forms, enters data into computer files, or computes wages and deductions and posts to payroll records.
    > Reviews wages computed and corrects errors to ensure accuracy of payroll.
    > Ensures all court-ordering wage garnishments are properly administered.
    > Records changes of Team Member options affecting payroll such as exemptions and direct deposit information.
    > Prepares journal entries.
    > Prepares periodic reports of earnings, taxes, and deductions.
    > Prepares quarterly payroll tax return for review and submission.
    > Prepares year end W-2 forms and reports.
    > Maintains PTO schedules.
    > Prepares and issues paychecks, as required.
    > Adheres to all regulatory, departmental, and casino policies and procedures, and to the casino Internal Control Structure.
    > Verifies all entries for payroll changes entered by the Human Resource Department.
    > Participates in orientation programs for new team members, explaining payroll and time keeping requirements.
    > Must adhere to the safety rules and regulations of the Kiowa Casino & Hotel and of the Finance department.
    > Complete uploads for Revenue Audit.
    > Assist in compiling information for outside Auditors.
    > Assist the Accountant and Finance Manager with various accounting functions, including filing and organizing.
    > All other duties as assigned
    > Must adhere to departmental, organizational, state, and federal safety rules and regulations, applicable processes for safe operation, appropriate Personal Protective Equipment, in addition to any/all related controls for personal welfare and the safety of others




    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSA)


    Specifics Required:
    > High school diploma or GED required.
    > At least 21 years of age.
    > Associate Degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field.
    > 3 years increasingly responsible payroll experience, including experience with timekeeping and payroll processing software, such as TimeStar, Kronos, ABRA, etc.

    OR

    Combination of education and experience equivalent to 3 years payroll experience.

    Preferred:
    > Working knowledge of the casino gaming industry and the laws and regulations governing casino gaming operations.
    > Payroll processing experience with tipped positions and dual-rated positions.
    > Payroll tax return preparation experience.

    Skills Required:
    > Strong computer skills with experience in word processing, databases, and spreadsheets (ability to demonstrate proficiency).
    > Strong organizational and time management skills.
    > Excellent written communication skills.
    > Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
    > Accurate and detail-oriented.
    > Excellent problem solving skills.
    > Guest service, interpersonal, and teamwork skills necessary to maintain quality service delivery.

    > Ability to manage extensive amounts of paperwork.

    Physical Demands / Work Environment


    Must be able to communicate using written, oral and computer methods. Must be able to operate computer equipment (for extended periods of time).

    Office, gaming floor and convention center environment including flashing lights, frequent loud noises and cigarette smoke. Extensive computer use. Must handle hazardous materials. Must be flexible with work schedule. Must be willing to work any hours and/or shift, as assigned, according to business needs.
