Pediatric Psychiatrist evaluates, diagnoses, and treats mental, emotional, or behavioral disorders affecting children, adolescents, and their families. Diagnoses disorders, including nature and extent, determines the appropriate course of treatment, and discusses these treatment plans with the child or adolescent and the responsible adults. Being a Pediatric Psychiatrist prescribes medication when necessary. May need to act as an advocate for the best interests of the patient. Additionally, Pediatric Psychiatrist requires a MD degree from an accredited school. Requires a valid state license to practice. May report to a medical director. Magnolia Creek, a treatment center for eating disorders, provides evidence-based, quality care to adolescent girls (ages 12 to 17) and adult women (ages 18 and older) with an eating disorder and secondary co-occurring mental health condition or substance use disorder. Our goal is to provide comprehensive treatment to meet the psychological, medical, nutritional, spiritual, and relational needs of our clients. At our eating disorder recovery clinic, we focus not just on the presenting condition, but also on the underlying and co-occurring disorders that contribute to them. We take a comprehensive approach that addresses the whole person as the foundation of true client-centered eating disorder treatment.
The Psychiatrist is primarily responsible for conducting psychiatric evaluations, medication consultation and collaboration with community prescribers. Position ensures clients are medically stable and clinically appropriate upon admission to treatment services. Provides pharmacological treatment, if indicated, and requests and reviews any needed lab work. Position collaborates with team members to oversee and promote the health and safety of clients throughout the treatment process.
Relationships and Contacts:
Within the organization: Initiates and maintains frequent and close professional working relationships with the facility Executive Director, nursing staff, the facility medical director, and direct care team members.
Outside the organization: Initiates and maintains strong professional relationships with clients and families, clinical providers, referral partners and vendors, as needed.

Experience and Education
Must be a Board Eligible or Board-Certified Psychiatrist licensed to practice within the state of Alabama. Requires a minimum of 2 years’ of professional experience in a behavioral healthcare treatment setting, previous eating disorder treatment experience strongly preferred.
