Pediatric Psychiatrist evaluates, diagnoses, and treats mental, emotional, or behavioral disorders affecting children, adolescents, and their families. Diagnoses disorders, including nature and extent, determines the appropriate course of treatment, and discusses these treatment plans with the child or adolescent and the responsible adults. Being a Pediatric Psychiatrist prescribes medication when necessary. May need to act as an advocate for the best interests of the patient. Additionally, Pediatric Psychiatrist requires a MD degree from an accredited school. Requires a valid state license to practice. May report to a medical director.     Position Description:
     
    Mental Health Resource Center is seeking a full-time Psychiatrist in Jacksonville.  This position will provide services for the MHRC Adult Inpatient Programs.  

    The MHRC inpatient program for adults (age 18 or older) provides short-term stabilization services for individuals who are experiencing mental health crises and require a 24-hour structured and supervised therapeutic environment.  Services include comprehensive assessment, psychiatric evaluation, physical examination, medication management, individual and/or group therapy, educational groups, social rehabilitation, activity options, discharge planning, and referrals and linkage to case management and other needed follow-up services.

    MHRC employees work together to make a difference for our patients and support one another in a friendly, team oriented atmosphere.  

    The essential functions of the Psychiatrist include, but are not limited to:
     
    • Provides diagnosis, medication, therapies, interventions and other approved treatment modalities for assigned caseload; maintains therapeutic environment.
    • Assesses patients in psychiatric crisis.
    • Ensures each patient has problem-oriented treatment plan with appropriate goals and objectives.
    • Conducts psychiatric evaluations and treatment plan reviews at assigned intervals to assess patient progress and makes appropriate recommendations.  
    • Ensures that each patient is fully informed regarding any medication prescribed and signs the appropriate informed consent paperwork.
    • Prescribes medication in accordance with state licensure and the MHRC IDP formulary.  
    • Participates in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings.  
    • Consults with staff, family members, significant others and other agencies regarding diagnostic, medical, and treatment problems of patients.  
    • Provides feedback/guidance to MHRC clinical managers about clinical functions in the area which they supervise.  Provides consultations to other staff members who are providing clinical services. 
    Position Requirements:
    In order to be considered candidates must have:
    • An M.D. or D.O. degree 
    • Board Eligibility or Board Certification in Psychiatry 
    • Florida State License 
    • Current DEA certification 
    The Psychiatrist needs to make sound decisions independently and demonstrate good judgment on a daily basis, including but not limited to recognizing emergencies and life threatening situations and responding appropriately.

    Strong communication skills are essential and this individual must be able to interact appropriately with internal and external customers, including patients, families, caregivers, community service providers, supervisory staff and other department professionals.

    Each employee contributes to the completeness and confidentiality of clinical records by ensuring documentation, paperwork and system entries meet internal and external guidelines for content, accuracy and timeliness. Must demonstrate proficiency in the MHRC Electronic Health Records (EHR) within three months of employment.

    Proficiency in Microsoft Office and email are required.  

    Position Details:
    Full-time positions offer a comprehensive benefits package.  Participation is the weekend on-call rotation is a requirement for full-time positions.  Additional compensation is provided for weekend on-call services.
      
    MHRC also has weekend on-call opportunities with our Inpatient Programs for individuals looking for part-time or weekend employment.
