Percussion Instrument Repairers and Tuners repairs percussion instruments, such as drums, cymbals, and xylophones. Removes drum tension rod screws and rods by hand or using drum key. Being a Percussion Instrument Repairers and Tuners may be required to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty. Requires 2-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Additionally, Percussion Instrument Repairers and Tuners is familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision; typically reports to a supervisor or manager. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work closely with our band teacher and students to enhance the overall musical experience within our school. The ideal candidate will have a passion for percussion, strong interpersonal skills, and a commitment to fostering a positive and supportive learning environment.


    Responsibilities:

    • Assist the percussion instructor in organizing and conducting rehearsals for various percussion ensembles, including concert band, marching band, and percussion ensemble.
    • Provide individualized instruction and guidance to students on percussion techniques, music theory, and ensemble performance skills.
    • Assist in the setup and maintenance of percussion instruments, ensuring they are in proper working condition for rehearsals and performances.
    • Collaborate with the percussion instructor and other music faculty to develop an engaging and challenging repertoire for performances.
    • Help coordinate percussion sectionals and workshops to provide additional support and instruction to students.
    • Attend performances, competitions, and other events as needed to support the percussion program and students.

    Qualifications:

    • A high school diploma is required; a bachelor's degree in music education or a related field is preferred.
    • Previous experience playing percussion instruments in a school ensemble or similar setting.
    • Strong proficiency in percussion techniques and music theory.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
    • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and contribute positively to the overall music program.
    • Enthusiasm for working with high school students and helping them develop their musical talents and abilities.
    • Flexible schedule to accommodate after-school rehearsals, performances, and events.
