Percussion Instrument Repairers and Tuners repairs percussion instruments, such as drums, cymbals, and xylophones. Removes drum tension rod screws and rods by hand or using drum key. Being a Percussion Instrument Repairers and Tuners may be required to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty. Requires 2-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Additionally, Percussion Instrument Repairers and Tuners is familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision; typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Collects, cleans, and reassembles instrument sets utilizing instrument count sheets.
Consistently wraps and prepares sets for sterilization based on knowledge of sterilization methods required for specific instruments/equipment: scrubs and washes surgical instruments, containers, and equipment such as aspirators and suction units; sterilizes instruments, equipment, surgical linens, and supplies such as surgical packs and treatment trays.
Obtains correct instrument/ instrument sets and delivers to the patient operating room in a timely fashion as requested.
Prepares packs of supplies, instruments, and dressing and treatment trays, according to designated lists or codes, and wraps, labels, and seals packs.
Stores prepared articles and supplies in designated areas.
Collaborates with SPD Supervisor to make recommendations for updates of instrument processing, storage, and set up.
Adheres to all Hospital Policies and Procedures, specifically Guidelines for Appropriate Conduct, Corporate Compliance, Diversity, and Confidentiality.
Identifies potential risks to patients: identifies risks to patients in order to reduce incidence of injury; identifies actions to eliminate, minimize or report risks; identifies procedures to follow in the event of an incident; reports processes for common problems, failures and user errors.
Applies the principles and values of customer service and continuous quality improvement while performing day-to-day activities of the position.
Maintains and protects confidentiality regarding all aspects of patient care, personnel and strategic issues.

Education: High School Diploma or G.E.D. Equivalent.
Experience: (2) years experience in a sterile processing department.
