Being a Percussion Instrument Repairers and Tuners may be required to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty. Requires 2-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Additionally, Percussion Instrument Repairers and Tuners is familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision; typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The CSPD Instrument Technician adheres to the protocols in Decontamination, Processing, and Sterilization. Understanding Sterile Processing infection control process and policies as they pertain to instrument and equipment maintenance, the CSPD Instrument Technician’s responsibilities include thorough cleaning of instruments and equipment to ensure the absence of any bioburden, as well as inspecting, function testing, and assembling items for High Level Disinfection or Sterilization.
Maintaining accurate documentation through instrument tracking systems is a key aspect of the role.
