Percussion Instrument Repairers and Tuners jobs in New Britain, CT

Percussion Instrument Repairers and Tuners repairs percussion instruments, such as drums, cymbals, and xylophones. Removes drum tension rod screws and rods by hand or using drum key. Being a Percussion Instrument Repairers and Tuners may be required to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty. Requires 2-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Additionally, Percussion Instrument Repairers and Tuners is familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision; typically reports to a supervisor or manager.     Job Summary
    We are seeking a Musical Instrument Technician and Retail Sales Associate to join our team! As a Musical Instrument Technician and sales Associate, you will be responsible for taking instruments from clients and determining their needs, playing the instrument itself to locate any issues, evaluating the sound, and making recommendations on what the best next step for restoration or repair is. You will also use tools alongside your own hearing to tune instruments, disassemble and reassemble instruments as needed, and repair or replace instrument parts and components. The ideal candidate will have experience working with instruments, have a musical background, and will have excellent problem-solving skills. Retail experience is a plus. Strong computer skills in Google Docs is needed.

    Responsibilities
    • Greet customers and listen to their concerns and needs about their instruments
    • Play instruments to help determine the potential issues or defects
    • Disassemble instruments, make repairs or replace parts, and reassemble instruments
    • Use a variety of tools and software to assist in repairing and tuning instruments
    • Staff salesfloor and handle any and all sales transactions
    Qualifications
    • Experience with a variety of instruments desired
    • Strong communication and customer service skills
    • Excellent attention to detail
    • The ability to multitask, and take on multiple projects at once
