Thursday, March 29, 2024, from 3:30pm to 6:30pm at the Human Resources Division located at 1115 Truxtun Avenue, 1st Floor, Bakersfield, CA 93301. You will be given the opportunity to have your resume and application pre-screened, on site.
Shift information: 5% additional pay for evening shift work; 7.5% additional pay for night shift work. Applicants must be able and willing to work any shift of a 24-hour period and any 5 of 7 days.
Examinations:
Written Exam (Weight 100%) May include knowledge of the principles and practices of records management; policies and procedures associated with the preparation, utilization, distribution, retention, retrieval and release of police reports, arrest records or a variety of other records and reports; computer operating systems and software related to processing and maintaining records; basic supervision and training principles and other relevant subjects .
The Human Resources Division may solely conduct an appraisal of application materials should there be an insufficient number of candidates to warrant a performance examination. Should a performance examination be necessary, the performance examination will be weighted at 100%.
Applicants must attain at least a 70% score on each phase of the exam process.
Minimum Qualifications/ Employment Standards:
High School Diploma, G.E.D or equivalent.
Three years of clerical experience including one year of experience as a Sheriff’s Records Specialist OR other law enforcement agency records personnel, OR an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to obtain the knowledge and skill to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
Certification of Typing/Keyboarding speed of 50 net words per minute
Possession of a Valid California Driver’s License is required upon appointment for some positions.
Applicants MUST submit a copy of their typing or keyboard certificate, issued within the last two years, verifying a speed of 50 net words per minute and attach it with their completed application. This examination will establish an eligible list from which immediate appointment(s) will be made at the Kern County Sheriff's Office. Other permanent and temporary appointments will be made as needed. Successful candidates will remain on the eligible list for a period of twelve-months, unless specified otherwise by the Civil Service Commission.
