    This position is located in the Assessment and Non-Permitted Petroleum Section of the UST Management  Division of the Bureau of Land and Waste Management. The individual will provider technical review and regulatory oversight for site rehabilitation activities associated with the releases from underground storage tanks for the Underground Storage Tank Management Division.

    Job Duties:
    • Performs technical reviews of plans and reports for soil and groundwater contamination sites resulting from releases from underground storage tanks
    • Provides directives for appropriate actions needed to properly assess and remediate the sites in accordance with Risk Based Corrective Action criteria
    • Reviews and approves cost estimates and invoiced costs for hydrogeological work that qualifies for State Fund monies and checks related reports for accuracy before payment is authorized
    • Updates and maintains files and the EFIS database on all assigned underground storage tank contamination cases
    • Provides technical assistance and information to the public, public officials, industries, and consultants
    • Participates in the peer review process to ensure consistency in the application of program regulation and policy
    • Performs other duties as required
    A bachelor’s degree in geology, hydrology, hydrogeology, or geological engineering.

    Additional Requirements:
    • Good written and oral communication skills
    • Experience with computer tasks (data management & word processing)
    • Must be able to access non-traditional work environments
    • Must be able to lift 40 lbs.
    • Local and occasional overnight travel may be required
    • Must have a valid driver's license, 10-year driving record that complies with State and Agency Fleet guidelines, and the ability to drive a state vehicle
