    BASIC ACCOUNTABILITY
    The Sr Staff Geologist, Rockies Business Unit, will be required to perform complex technical duties related to the identification and development of new value-added opportunities for drilling inventory growth. The candidate will be responsible for the addition of future reserves in the Rockies region via exploration and appraisal efforts, including but not limited to the generation of new play concepts, integrated reservoir characterizations, appraisal planning, and data acquisition proposals. They will also provide recommendations on acquisitions, joint venture opportunities, and application of innovative technologies such as EOR. This person will collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team, utilizing their knowledge of the subsurface and reservoirs to advise on full life cycle planning, drilling, and completions efforts in order to help improve the economics of Devon’s inventory and existing base. The candidate should desire to work in a collaborative multi-functional team setting that prioritizes a “One Team” approach to problem solving. This includes a continuous improvement mindset, willingness to challenge the status quo, and ability to demonstrate integrated subsurface performance through actions and feedback.     • EDUCATION
      Master’s degree in Geology or Geosciences, or equivalent experience

    • EXPERIENCE
      At least 5 years of related industry experience in Geosciences
      At least 2 years of full-time experience in an Exploration or equivalent role
    • Two or more years of experience working Rockies regional basins and reservoirs preferred

      JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Provide geologic support to multi-disciplinary teams across the full life cycle from exploration to abandonment.
    • Ability to provide technical lead multi-disciplinary teams in answering complex geologic problems related to resource addition and growth of Devon’s assets, utilizing state of the art software and analysis techniques.
    • Identify geological relationships critical to the integration of engineering, geochemical, geophysical, and petrophysical data.
    • Integrate core, seismic and wireline data to construct cross sections, maps and depositional models needed to assist other disciplines in the understanding of petrophysical, geophysical, and engineering relationships of oil and gas reservoirs.
    • Initiate, present, and promote new exploration efforts in search of accretive growth opportunities in the form of existing play extensions and/or new play concepts.
    • Assist the team in competitor analysis to better understand our own assets or to acquire competitors.
    • Understand and apply geological risk to exploration, appraisal, and development projects, and work with a probabilistic mindset.
    • Effectively communicate project results and recommendations to leadership, especially new ideas or those that challenge the status quo.

    • Advanced level computer skills and experience integrating a wide variety of date types
    • Oil and gas industry experience required
    • Experience in horizontal drilling, completion, and simulation technology required
